Fostering literacy with speech recognition: a pilot study
By Agape Deng, Computational Linguist, Speech Technology Department
This white paper investigates the impact of a speech-enabled phonics application on the early literacy skills of primary school students in the U.K. and Ireland.
The pilot took place in Q1 2019, with results showing that use of a voice-enabled phonics app that provides appropriate feedback to students can help them attain a high level of reading achievement.
