EIC Accelerator Funding & Our Multilingual Solutions
March 20, 2020
In early 2018, SoapBox Labs embarked on an ambitious, two-year and multilingual-focused project called SpeechTech4Literacy.
The SpeechTech4Literacy project received funding under a prestigious European program — the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program — under grant agreement number REP-802793.
The aim of the project was to add six new languages to our existing English language voice technology for kids solutions. Spanish, Mandarin, and Portuguese were prioritized, followed by German, French and Italian.
Commenting on the recent successful conclusion of the project, Founder and CEO Dr. Patricia Scanlon noted:
“Since 2013, SoapBox Labs has been developing voice technology for kids that addresses the global literacy crisis and delivers the magic of voice interfaces to toys, games, and robotics. Thanks to support from the EIC Accelerator, we are now offering these state-of-the-art solutions across multiple languages, thereby extending our reach and the power of voice technology to engage kids globally in immersive play and learning experiences.”
