Amelia Kelly becomes CTO

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Amelia Kelly in her new role of Chief Technology Officer!
Amelia joined SoapBox in 2015 as one of the first employees and, since then, has led the team in building our proprietary voice engine for kids. She’s the driving force behind many of SoapBox’s awards and achievements, including our recent submission to become the first company to earn the Prioritizing Racial Equity in AI Design certification from Digital Promise.
Last week, her work and leadership were recognized by AI Ireland when she won the AI Person of the Year Award.
As Amelia explains: “As Director and then VP of Speech Tech, I have led a talented team of linguists and speech engineers whose work iterating and building on those initial models have made SoapBox the leading speech recognition engine for kids in the world today.
“As CTO of SoapBox, I will continue, along with my world-class team, to deliver on our mission for kids — a high performance, accuracy-driven voice engine, that puts privacy and equity first. A voice engine that understands every child’s voice equally, regardless of accent or dialect, is non-negotiable for me as an engineer, linguist, and AI developer.”
